I was watching the news this morning when I saw a report on the current events in Libya. The latest news is that the U.S.A. and the U.K. i.e. the supposed peacemakers, are now considering arming one of the parties in the conflict. They claim that this is a peaceful act but to me this is a move which could only serve to add fuel to the fire that is already burning in Libya. Putting more weapons into the mess is only likely to result in more casualties.
This is nothing new in international affairs. For over a century now we have been promised that each war is either a war to end all wars or a move to bring about peace. Despite the millions who have died in the many conflicts, and the many more who have been injured, the wars continue and countries continue to stockpile weapons; all in a supposed attempt to bring about peace. This approach has never worked and never will work. You cannot bring about peace by preparing for war just as a you cannot run a marathon by standing still.
Too often we claim that we are aiming to achieve a goal while our actions, words and focus are directing us toward the opposite. If you want peace prepare for peace. If you want good health prepare for and work towards good health. It really is that simple.
Peace
